Speaker Profiles:

Louise Hewett, Hewett Recruitment

Louise is Founder and Director of Hewett Recruitment. Having spent six years as a director of the REC she now sits on their Advisory Council.

Louise celebrated (unusually quietly)40 years in business in 2020 and was made Deputy Lieutenant of Worcestershire with responsibility for the Queens Awards in the county.

Passionate about standards in recruitment, Louise has enjoyed using her influence to initiate and support many business and community projects. She initiated the ‘Flexible Jobs index for Worcestershire’ in partnership with the LEP and Time wise and was a member of the Future of Jobs Commission. Currently chairman of ‘Excellence in Employment’ with the Worcs LEP.

Awards have included Worcestershire Business Woman of the year, Pride of Worcestershire Award, and National IRP award for ‘Best Contribution to the Community’

Louise was made an honorary Fellow of the University of Worcester and Hewett Recruitment were made the first ‘’Cornerstone Employers’ in the county for their work connecting education with business.

Personally, Louise likes to spend time with family, going to live theatre, gigs, enjoying a meal with good friends and travel… all things she hopes to be enjoying again soon!

 

Neil Carberry, REC

Neil Carberry was appointed as Chief Executive of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation in June 2018 having been managing director at the Confederation of British Industry, leading the CBI’s work on the labour market, skills, energy and infrastructure. In 1999, Neil began his career in recruitment working for executive search firm Fraser Watson before doing a post-graduate degree in Human Resources at the London School of Economics and joining the CBI in 2004. He is a member of the council of the conciliation service ACAS and of the Low Pay Commission where he helps guide pay policy in the UK. He is also the chair of a small primary academy trust in Oxfordshire.
